About Caroline Khodadian

Caroline Khodadian was born in Ahvaz into an Armenian family. At the age of two, during the Iran-Iraq war, she and her family moved to Tehran. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Armenian schools in Tehran and graduated in 2004 with a degree in law from Azad University of Isfahan.

Her professional journey in the arts began at the age of three, when she started learning ballet and Armenian dance under the guidance of Yelena Avedisian. At the age of 11, she developed an interest in classical Iranian dance and combined it with ballet, training for five years under Katayoun Karimian, a ballerina from the National Ballet Academy of Iran. She also briefly studied flamenco with a Spanish instructor. Caroline expanded her dance repertoire by studying Sufi dance under Fariba Azargon.

Caroline Khodadian created a unique dance style called “Samamenco” by innovatively combining Sufi dance and flamenco. In 2019, she went to the National Dance and Theatre Academy of Armenia, where she trained under renowned Armenian artist Sofy Devoyan and movement designer Maria Hovsepyan, specializing in Armenian dance and hand movements. Additionally, Caroline took courses to learn how to play the castanets, incorporating the Sevilliana dance style into her performances. She also studied the daf under Vandad Masahzadeh, a composer and conductor, and later with Zakarya yousefi, learning academic daf playing.
